Season Reports

The Big 8

I posted Tough Day yesterday around 4:30ish about a buck that I had shot and did not recover.  Well yesterday evening I took a drive just to see if I could see him in the area or any other nice buck.   I pulled up and could not believe my eyes there he was standing right where I had parked the truck when I was tracking him earlier in the day.  He seemed to be fine I could see where I hit him but the deer was not even limping.  So I came up with a game plan today because I thought now I had his core area pinned down.  Went in around 1:30 and hung a set in this little spot.  It took me almost two hours before I was done because I did not want to make a noise.  I slipped into the set and around 6:00 pm I heard two load grunts I could see deer but could not tell what they were.  Some does started getting pushed around and they were coming straight at me.  I could see a buck working some scrapes but could not tell what he was.  Then he stepped into a clearing about 70 yards out and it was him.  I would of called to him but the does where now right under my stand.  He worked the opposite way of me and out of site.  I’ll be in the set first thing in the morning and if I see him this time I will be calling to him if he looks like is going to do that again.
