Season Reports

Springer Bruins

Spring bear season is underway here in Northern Idaho and my son Jess turned 12 and was finally old enough to get to start bear hunting. He and I put in a bait and had been monitoring our Covert camera for a few weeks when we finally started seeing a few big boars showing up during daylight hours. We hunted several times but the kind of bears we were looking for just didn’t show.

Finally with just two days left in this particular units season the right kind of mature boar showed himself and my son Jess put the hammer down on this big springer blackie. One shot from his 300 win mag made short work of this 6 foot 1 boar. Jess and Ty my boys got the job done on their own from our double treestand. They were pretty fired up when they came down off the mountain to get me off of my dozer. The blood trail was short and Jess tagged his first of many Idaho bruins.
