Scouting the Big Woods of Southern Ohio

I just spent the weekend scouting a big chunk of woods down in southern Ohio. It can be intimidating at a glance, so my first order of business was to learn the lay of the land by breaking it into manageable chunks. I wanted to learn where a person can and can’t drive by truck or quad so I put a lot of miles on the quad marking things with my GPS. During those drives I picked out specific topography (see our Hill Country Bucks video) to spot-check. After lots of miles on the boots and the quad, I have a small handful of promising spots that I’ll begin to take inventory on this summer. Looking forward to the challenge!

Awesome. I had the same plan to scout the south part of OH but I’m traveling for work in SC for a few months. Is this public of private?

  2. This is private, paper company land. Email me if you’re interested because it’s part of a hunting club that I joined to get access to a bunch of ground down there for a very reasonable price.
