Idaho Elk Hunt Report: Sweet Mountain Music

September in the panhandle of Idaho with bull elk bugling is a concert any bowhunter would want a front row seat to. Ryan Williams, Paul Ranft, and I (Lee) shacked up at Troys’ place, for a fortnight, in the heart of elk country. Troy, his wife and boys made us feel like family and for their hospitality alone it was worth the trip. Add to that some screaming bulls, cougar, bear, moose, and deer sightings, and you can’t help but fall in love with this place. Thanks to Pauls’ expert calling I was able to put my tag on a raghorn 3X3 bull. Incredible scenery, bugling bull music, abundant wildlife, and good people got my 2013 season off to a great start. Thanks to the Pottengers and Paul for a memorable hunt.
