Well my 2010 Illinois trip did not start out like planned. Headed out out on the 6th and the forecast looked to be not that bad. Everyday that I was there they just kept bumping those temps up on the forecast. Before I knew it we had mid 70’s and the deer movement was almost completly gone during daylight. Good friend of mine killed a nice 9 point one evening and I thought thats what we need someone to break the ice. That night getting his deer out of the woods and taking pics I had lost my cell phone somewhere in the mix of things. At that point I thought can it get any worst then this. Then on the morning of the 11th a front came in with some rain and I knew that they would move. I knew of a big bedding area so I climbed into a stand on the downwind side of that bedding area and man where the bucks moving and scent checking that bedding. I saw five diffrent bucks do just that around 8:50 am this guy came through. I ended up getting some good pre roll and him running off and tipping over but the deer at the last minute turned right into me. So i did not get the shot on tape but got everything else, he was at 5 yards and way to close to try and turn that camera. Well im back home now and with a buck tag left here be back at it this evening. Hope everyone is having a great season and good luck out there. |
