My daughter and I went out for our first day of turkey hunting last Thursday. We were on four toms but nothing came in. The following morning was the same as the first…we headed back to the truck slowly and calling, we located a tom right next to the truck. We ended up sitting so close to the truck we could see it from where we were sitting, we watched this tom that had a hen with him for about an hour. When I got the chance I spooked the hen by waving my hands when the tom wasn’t looking. This left the tom all alone, and with some aggressive calling, the tom came right in!!
Moral of the story, don’t be afraid to do something like that to get rid of those hens, or you might find yourself watching your tom walk away with that hen.
