I had the thrill of watching my son Jacob get his first turkey the other night…and what a bird! Jacob shot a 10″ beard, 24.5 pound tom with 1.25″ spurs with his Rossi youth model .410. I’ve not felt an adrenaline rush like that since I was a kid myself! Jacob kept his cool extremely well during the agonizing 45 minutes that the birds made their way into range. And kudos to my daughter Jadyn who is becoming quite the little hunter herself. Jadyn’s legs went numb while we were frozen still trying not to move, and she stayed strong and toughed it out, allowing her brother to make the 25 yard shot. Now Jadyn and I have some hunts of our own coming up so stay tuned. Good luck out there everyone!
