Season Reports

Empty Nest, Full Net

My son, Jacob, has left the nest a bit this summer. Having recently graduated from high school, he decided to spend some time this summer working (cough…playing) with our friend Jim. Jim’s a long-time expert flyfishing guide who, along with my dad, taught me to flyfish when I was just 8 years old. Jim’s teaching Jacob the intracacies of running a drift boat, learning bugs, casting techniques, reading water, and everything else he can soak in during these hot summer months before college starts. I really miss him, but what a great opportunity to learn and enjoy being outdoors. The “working world” will come soon enough kiddo, enjoy yourself!

When it’s too hot to fish, Jim’s been teaching Jacob the art of fly tying.
