I recently had the pleasure of getting caught up with an old friend, Barry South on my way back from a family vacation to Florida. Barry moved to Kentucky several years ago. We used to hunt together a bit when we were first getting Blood Brothers Outdoors going (now NextBuk).
He has since started a deer farm, Woodard Whitetails of Kentucky, and is growing some absolutely incredible bucks! Barry graciously gave a tour of his facilities there and explained what’s involved in growing some of the largest racked bucks in the world. It’s quite a science. Barry’s biggest buck is over 400 inches! Jen and the kids and I especially loved feeding some of his does by hand… a really cool treat, and an awesome closeup reference for the taxidermist in me! I hope to get back down to photograph his deer some more later this summer. Here are some more pics from our visit.
